Did You Know…

Most of us are willing to suffer more pain for a close relative or a friend than for a good cause, says study on altruism from University of St. Andrews, UK. The more closely related a participant was to others who would receive rewards based on how much discomfort the participants were willing to endure, the longer they were willing to suffer. Both men and women would endure more to benefit relatives, then friends and finally a charity. There were some interesting gender differences, though. Women tended to spread their efforts more equally among relatives than men and men were more willing to put all family members ahead of friends.
